With the UK now thinking about planning the return to work, the following are key considerations for businesses when managing staff who the business is considering having return to the workplace, whether from furlough leave or other periods of absence:
• Understand the government guidance applicable to your industry, type of workplace and geography. The current government guidance is that employees should work from home wherever possible
• Carryout a risk assessment for your workplace
• Put in place social distancing measures and reduce the risks as far as reasonably practicable
• Consider PPE for your workplace
• Consider transport options that your staff have to get to work
• Communicate to employees any new measures or processes
• Be particularly careful with respect to those who are high risk, as well as those with caring responsibilities
• Put in place a contingency plan in the event of a further period of lockdown
